Chris Cornell statue commissioned by his widow

The widow of Chris Cornell hopes a statue of her late husband she has commissioned will help fans and the city he loved honor him. Cornell died shortly after performing a concert in Detroit last May. His death was ruled a suicide, but his wife believes that her husband's state of mind was skewed by a drug relapse and that he '...did not want to die', adding, 'If he was of sound mind, I know he wouldn't have done this.'

The sculpture is being crafted by Wayne Toth and is expected to be finished by spring.  Speaking with the Seattle Times, she siad, 'He has already given me a design and the childrena and I love it.  He is Seattle's son and we will be bringing him back home and honoring him, I hope, with all of you, your love and support.'
