1-3-1945 Stephen Stills born

 

Stephen Stills was born on this day in 1945 in Dallas, Texas.  The future founding member of the Buffalo Springfield, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Manassas was born in a military family and spent much of his early life living on or around bases in Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Panama, and Costa Rica, absorbing music that would influence multi-instrumental future.  
Beatles producer Sir George Martin (1926) and Led Zeppelin bass player John Paul Jones (1946 were also born on January 3.
On this day in 1970, the Beatles recorded I Me Mine, their last song as a band.
Bruce Springsteen recorded much of what would become his Nebraska album in his Rumson, New Jersey bedroom on this day in 1982.
And Phil Everly, one of the few to be in both the Rock and Country Halls of Fame, died of lung disease on this day in 2014.
