Vince Neil enters not guilty plea in battery case

An altercation that alledgedly took place between Vince Neil and a woman that maintains the former Motley Crue member grabbed her by her hair and dragged her to the ground when she approached actor Nicholas Cage to compliment him on his acting has led to a battery charge. The incident in a Las Vegas hotel lobby spilled over to outside the hotel when a visibly angry Cage took Neil aside and lit into him last April (story).  Lawyers entered a not guilty plea on behalf of Neil, who was not required to be present for the brief session Wednesday (7/27) in a Las Vegas court.  A trial date has been set for September 19th in the case.  One of the lawyers representing Neil told the Las Vegas Sun that people should not '...prejudge situations until all the facts come in'.

Springsteen solo album will be 'very different'

Without going into much detail, Bruce Springsteen's manager has confirmed a solo album will come out from The Boss next year and told Billboard that the release will be a '...very different kind of record.'  Jon Landau says he doesn't mean acoustic, but one that's 'a very expansive record, a very rich record'. That certainly opens the floodgates for speculation. Orchestra backing, a concept album, a Rock Opera... sounds like anything's possible.  As for now, Landau will only say it will rank as one of Bruce's most creative albums.

'The Dead tends to be the avant garde side, a little more freewheeling, with a wide breadth of different scopes of music. But they definitely have some similarities.' He also let fly some news that will be welcome to fans of his former band when he said, 'Gregg (Allman) texted us not long ago, saying: 'Hey, maybe we should start thinking about getting something together in 2017.'  Burbridge says, 'I'm always waiting for that call.'

Beatles never impressed Keith Richards playing live

The touring life-span of the Beatles was very brief and did not make a very favorable impression on Keith Richards.  Speaking with Radio Times Magazine, the Rolling Stones guitarist said, 'Musically, the Beatles had a lovely sound and great songs.  But the live thing? They were never quite there.'  In their defense, the limited period in which they toured was at the height of Beatlemania, when screaming girls often drowned out the sound of the band in the venues they played and on stage monitors were of little use.

Where's Izzy? sign confiscated at GNR concert

A fan holding up a Where's Izzy sign at the Guns N' Roses concert in Nashville had it confiscated and destroyed by a security guard that said he was acting on the band's orders.  Caroline Campos held the sign up between songs so as not to block the view of those behind her. At one point Axl Rose spotted it and laughingly remarked 'Good question' from the stage.  Soon after, security team members flooded the area Campos was in, apparently on a search & destroy mission directed by the band.  Campos says she was tapped on her shoulder by a guy asking whether the sign he spotted under her chair belonged to her. When she said yes he told her to give it to him. When she asked why, she says he produced a badge and told her, 'I'm with the band and they've asked for the sign to be removed.' After taking it, he folded it and ripped it up as he walked away.

Eddie Money counters former drummer's allegations

Eddie Money, targeted by a former drummer in a lawsuit, has fired back with allegations of his own.  Money contends that drummer Glynn Symmonds' claims about him are "preposterous and downright evil" and implies that they were lodged against him simply because he decided he wanted to have his son play drums for him instead of Symmonds.  The lawsuit filed by Symmonds maintains that Money ridiculed the drummer on stage over bladder control problems stemming from a medical condition and that the singer hit on his fiancé.  Taking to his Facebook page, Money wrote, "I raised thousands of dollars to help Glenn beat his bladder cancer, and I was proud, along with the band, to do it,", and added, "I am glad Gelnn is healthy, and I wish him well.  But I wish he and his girlfriend would no longer assault me and my family with malicious falsehoods that impugn my integrity in an effor to make money for themselves through a bogus lawsuit."

Aerosmith's Hamilton pans Ritchie Blackmore

Tom Hamilton has been spending time during the most recent Aerosmith hiatus playing with Thin Lizzy on a reunion tour that has the Irish Rockers opening some Rainbow dates.  He recently had an on-air conversation with Joey Kramer about those concerts and brought up something he thought was quite weird.  Talking with the drummer while Kramer ws guest hosting the morning show on WZLX, the Classic Rock station in Boston, Hamilton said that when Rainbow took the stage roadies strung the kind of tape used at crime scenes across the walkway to it to prevent other musicians or people on the tour from being able to watch Rainbow from the wings of the stage.  Kramer said the sight left him and others "...just kind of standing there staring at them, like 'oh my God, who's ever seen a band do that?' ".  He went on to add that Blackmore seemed uninspired on stage, saying, 'He was playing lead sort of just like off the record and not in a real passionate way. A little flat.'
