In a recent conversation about his post Zeppelin vocals, Robert Plant said the work he did with Zeppelin, '...kicked ass' and added 'I used my voice sometimes kind of like an instrument, like a psychedelic scat or whatever it was. I pushed the range up more and more as I went on... But when I started working in a different time, I found that a lot of that stuff was a cliche... So I was glad to make the departure. The former Zeppelin front man says he finds his current group Sensational Space Shifters gives him to take a different approach that is still high energy.

Calling the wardrobe in the film clips she has seen something, '...I would not be seen dead in', Kathy Etchingham says she thinks it is likely that the upcoming movie about her one time boy friend, guitar great Jimi Hendrix, could be equally off the mark in other respects. The production is already gotten a thumbs down from the Hendrix estate on using any of the guitarist's original music in the move. Etchingham's claim that the costumes have, '...Asutin Powers written all over them' was accompanied by her assertion that she is concerned that the film could '...fundamentally change history' about the legendary musician. She says her message to the producers encouraging them to contact her before production began was ignored.
One of the most portable technologies on tour is adding entertainment value to former Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart's concerts and collecting data to help medical researchers develop strategies for attacking Alzheimer's disease. A specially equipped cap captures brain wave activity with electrodes and transforms them into a light show that displays in real time as the drummer performs. The brain storm of an idea was developed by Hart in collaboration with a University of California neuroscientist that specializes in cognitive problems related to aging. Hart began thinking that music's interaction with the mind could be a portal reseachers and doctors would find useful when he noted that playing drums for his grandmother made her more responsive. Speaking with KGO radio, the neuroscientist, Adam Grazzaley said, 'This concept that rhythm might be therapeutic has been around for a long time; there's just really not studies that have carefully controlled a rhythmic experiemnt and looked for changes in the brain'.

Joe Bonamassa has a versatility that few guitarists can match. He puts his capabilities on display in a DVD collection culled from a series of four performances in London dedicated to performing songs he'd never done live before. The venues and lineups moved from a 200 seat club set delivered in jam band mode to a big band blues show at Shepherd's Bush Empire, followed by a straight ahead Rock performance at the Hammersmith Apollo and concluded with a top tracks performance in a sold-out Royal Albert Hall. Each performance is available as a double DVD or Blu-ray. The entire collection is also being packaged as a set that includes a hard-bound book commemorating the mini-tour handsomely housed in a box modeled after a Marshall amp. The individual sets and collector's edition go on sale September 28.

With major promoters offering millions for him to return to the concert stage, the reclusive David Bowie steadfastly prefers to remain out of the spotlight. Speculation about a tour gained new traction after Bowie surprised the world with a new album earlier this year. Representatives doused those. Recent reports that Live Nation and AEG are actively attempting to get a commitment from Bowie for 2014 dates were met by another denial from his camp. The new year will mark the 50th anniversary of his career. Other than a cameo with Alicia Keys in 2006, Bowie has not performed live in almost a decade.
